Cocchi Americano was invented in 1891 by Giulio Cocchi. The name stems from the process of making alcohol bitter by adding bitter herbs and spices. it is a white wine that has been sweetened and then an addition of alcohol that has been flavored with herbs, spices, fruit, and floral flavors. Not to be confused with the cocktail of the same name.
